http://unemploymenthotlineinc.com - CUIAB administrative law judges (ALJs) hear disputes concerning claims for unemployment and disability benefits. These cases are appeals of determinations made by the Employment Development Department (EDD).

There are two levels of appeal. The lower level hearing is before an ALJ where witnesses and evidence are considered. The ALJ then decides the case by issuing a written decision. If any of the parties disagree with the decision, they have a right to a higher level appeal of that decision before the seven member Board. Board members will be assigned to the higher level appeal. They have the authority to affirm, reverse or modify the decision of the original ALJ. In some instances, the Board members may return the case for a new hearing.
