Two people (viroflay and TheFreeman35) have requested this song which is one I know of, but have never heard before. I have listened to a couple of versions and have made my own arrangement using DADGAD tuning on my guitar. It is a nice old traditional song with a somewhat mystical meaning connected I think to fertility rites.

  • thank you so much finally after 30 years for the lyrics

  • Lovely musical performance!

  • The song is about making whisky.

  • Well done Tony This is a great favourite of mine.

  • Merci Tony for answering our request and for putting this very personal version of the song, congrats !

  • Super

  • Thanks for doing this Tony, one of my favourite Folk Songs. The local Morris men

used to sing this a lot, and I always thought that the song was about the brewing of ale.

  • Oh, this is a great song. I heard the band Crowfoot play it (on their album Footpath) although they play a very different version to this. Although the guitarist there also uses DADGAD. I keep meaning to learn this one myself.

  • Great job
