I don't understand...they said they're not dropping the old logo, but they did? Or am I wrong?

As stanzemanek said, the wave next to the number or number word would have been just brilliant. For me, the old wave logo means a lot and should have stayed.

Old fat bloke Harold Mitchell at about 1.00, how many Space Hoppers has he eaten?

BTW.. there are some VERY talented people who are walking the ABC's corridors making programmes and enlightening us all.. but most certainly NOT Mr Dalton !!
Here's to the "Foot Soldiers" of the ABC who do a GREAT job !!

Now that according to my basic math is 43 years ago.. Why didn't the ABC Director of Televisio get it right before doing an interview on such an important subject as the corporate logo !!
What a joke.. Kim Dalton should be sacked .. along with the rest of the no talent twats who walk the corridors of a our national broadcaster claiming to know what they're doing but really just knowing how to look important and busy .. while stealing the public's money !!
SHAME SHAME SHAME !!

Quite right Stan !!
I was worried too about the so called ABC Director of Television, Kim Dalton and quote "I think.. the ABC logo has been around for 40 years" .. I THINK ??
You work there you FOOL !! why don't you research it and find out !!
How did you get your job ?
For Kim's benefit the wave logo was created in 1965 by bloke called Bill Kennard based on the "waveform of an oscilloscope".. and as "stanzemanek" correctly says its NOT a bloody worm.
Arrr!! ABC has a wave! Nine has the "the worm"!

Thank you. I'll agree that Kim stuffed that interview up & I was also troubled to hear some private sector language, "going forward."
Yet, I like the direction Kim & Mark Scott is taking with ABC. They've left the other networks in the dust as far as Internet & digital programming is concerned. Atm, they have up to 50 programs available for streaming or download & ABC2 is looking more independent everyday.
The logos. It would've been nice if they followed BBC, wave next to the number words
