Some people add red wine, paprika, cinnamon, cloves or the colour of berry tea to their henna. How do you feel about that. Also I have a golden brown hair with red under tones, how long will do I have to leave it in for for it to turn that "Florence and the Machine Red"? I would rather have an orange red than a purple red.

@heatherx05 I used Body-Art-Quality Henna (from henna for hair . com) a couple of times & have had no issues with bleaching it out! I change my hair color often. It only was an issue when I used indigo which IS impossible to get out, so NEVER use that! But henna was not an issue at all! It will stain your hair, so it doesn't fade out, it will actually darken over time because it oxidizes (just like blood turns brown when exposed to oxygen, henna will darken to an auburn-brown over time.) ^_^

@heatherx05 I do use normal shampoos with it. I try to use sulfate free shampoos when I can, but I dont notice a huge difference if I switch back to regular herbal essences or something.

@MyCardboardMoon that helps a lot. fading was one of my biggest concerns because i know henna is near impossible to get out without just cutting it all off and i was always scared that it would do just like a chemical dye and wash away quickly no matter what i did to stop it. are you able to use normal shampoos and everything like that as well?

@heatherx05 Hi! Thanks so much! I notice some "fading" but for me its more that it evens out, like it starts to darken and neutralize a little bit from the original fiery red color. Which is fine with me because it looks natural either way. I dont notice my roots nearly as quickly with this product as I did with regular hair dye, your roots sort of blend in. I redye every 6 weeks roughly, just to cover roots and boost the color up a bit. And I dont notice that washing fades it. Hope that helps!
you suck we are not babys we can see its a god damn brick you didnt say anything usefull.

I'm really considering buying this to dye my hair. I did a red rinse last summer and i really liked the results, even though it only lasted 3 months. my main issue is dying my roots. i like this because i know its not harmful to my hair, so i'm totally okay with using it. but when you redye your hair, do you cover the whole thing or get a brush and just get at your roots like they do in the salons?

@JackieTastic I usually cover my entire head because not only is it easier to do, but I find that the color of my hair looks more natural and blended when I do it that way. It also brightens up the rest of your hair when you re-color. You probable could do just the roots, but I think it's easier to just do your whole head, and concentrate most of the product on your roots.
