I bought this LP when came out at a time when I also had Shaft and Stairway to Heaven. This song is simply unique in that the lyrics were equal to the melody, both hauntingly beautiful.However, I must add that at the top where it's says sign our petition, the decorative embellishments for and aft look similar to barbed wire, excuse me it's now time for my medication.

Makes me cry everytime..

The story in the song is about a young couple that started out with nothing with alot of hopes and dreams and as the song states "The Hungry Years".

As they both climbed the ladder of success in their own lives they were growing farther and farther apart something was missing along the way.

And later they both realized that what they really wanted was everything they originally had and lost.
