This is the rarest Pac-Man arcade game. It's a 3D, first-person game, it's played with a Visette virtual reality visor and a gyroscopic joystick. It was made in 1996 by Virtuality Entertainment, its copyright currently belongs to Arcadian Virtual Reality and runs on an Intel 486-based PC.

An August 17, 2008 press release states that Arcadian Virtual Reality will liquidate all currently held assets, including the highly regarded intellectual property rights of Virtuality Entertainment, before January 2009 (see http://snipurl.com/6wjy2 ). Will this mean there is a chance to have it dumped and emulated soon?

  • Thumbs up if you would like to play this in stereoscopic 3D on the Nintendo 3DS.

  • I played this on PS1, back in 1997, if my memory serves me correctly. You could walk around some kind of an... amusement park, and sit and play some arcade games. I remember I played some formula game. Yup, me, playing pac-man playing F1 game on an arcade. I remember I found it pretty sweet back in the day.

  • @pornoninja That had to be another game. Pac-Man VR was never converted for a home system.

  • @DevilMaster any arcade emulation avaiable?

  • @mspeter97 Unfortunately not: everything the authors of MAME, MESS and DOSBox did was to explain to each other why it's not up to them to emulate Virtuality games.

The MAME team rejects them because they are based on a PC with a Pentium processor and MS-DOS, the MESS team rejects them because they are coin-ops, and the DOSBox authors rejects them because the custom Virtuality video card makes them too different from a normal PC.

  • Where can you buy this????? PLZ REPLY!

  • @robotrobbie99 If you can afford a complete Virtuality system (it costs about $5000), you can buy one from ArcadianVR, which you can find by googling that name.

  • @DevilMaster well....too bad I guess

  • @pornoninja that was probably one of the namco museum games

  • If only virtual boy were like this.

  • OK, I think I've found it. :)

It's one of the Namco Museum games. I think it's the first one.

There is one of the formula games on it, so it has to be it. And seems I was wrong for the googles. lol I think I mixed it up with another game on the PSX, old as this one.

  • Yup, that's what I'm wondering about. I was 100% sure that in the intro, pac-man was putting on some goggles, that the game camera was first person and that you could walk around some sort of park or a museum. Hm... could you help me identify that game, then? :)
