  • Any body know if the commentator John Penney is still alive? Always thought he was one of ITV's better ones.

  • Not a pleassant sight in the Derby for any jockey to see Lester in the wing mirror gaining ground.

  • There is no comparison to the 75 King George - Willy was hard a work way out and Lester knew he had more in the tank, cozily won that I'd say. Most people thought that Bustino would come back and snatch a won but this race? Never in doubt.

  • Good cos I hate Willie Carson. BBC get rid of him.

  • You're spot on, terbs. This is great. I've just been spoiling myself with viewings of the 1975 KG and the 1987 Eclipse (Reference Point's best performance - never anything other than superb to lose to Mtoto over 10 by less than a length). This chap is marvellous too.

  • fantastic finish to a group one and only bettered in my view by the 1975 King George and the 1987 Eclipse. I have lost a little objectivity here due to the fact I was so pleased to see the little colt come good after his disappointing runs in the English and Irish 2000 Guineas and to see Lester's faith in the horse come to fruition!
