The NZ KIwis are taken through a training session by Head Trainer Hayden Knowles.
The warm up is an essential part of all trainings and games. Generally they start with a period of activity of low intensity to warm the body up, following this period teams usually go through a grid session where dynamic stretching starts, followed by further drills and/or a period of specific dynamic stretching.
Static stretches are rarely used as these have been shown in studies to reduce power output in muscles for as long as 20 minutes.
Short static (held in place) stretches may still be required for specific tightness or because of long time habit.
