If you hit the cue ball (CB) off center with no chalk, the tip slides off and the CB deflects to the side (i.e., it doesn't go straight). This is called a miscue. The chalk helps the cue tip grab the CB during contact.
Hey Dave, quick question. I put a new tip on my cue and when it made contact with the superglue it soaked some of it up. Now my tip is rock solid, will this increase miscue chance? If yes can you make a video on how to glue a new tip to a cue without it soaking up the glue? Thanks in advance :)
As long as the tip holds chalk and you don't mind the firmer "hit," it should be fine. I don't have lots of experience with cue repair, so I'm not the best person to post a video for applying tips.
