It's not in Google's best interest to "kill" Microsoft, As they are a massive revenue builder for Google, if only because they are the dominant platform. You might hope Apple would fill that void had microsoft disbanded, but they wouldn't for the same reason they aren't dominating now, they have a demographic of effeminate guys who buy $300 glasses, and stick shit in their hair. They are willing to pay a premium because they don't like windows and linux scares them. And it's trendy.
