since iv got my new pc iv been able to render fluid sims past the 150 res limit of my old pc up to 400!
i could go higher but it would take too long 400 took about 7 hours as it was

i baked the fluids in blender 2.50 beta to get them done faster then rendered them in 2.49a with yafaray.

  • You'll be happy to hear that Blender 2.60+ will use OpenMP for multithreaded fluid and cloth simulations. Great work with the video too.

  • @jamwaffles YES!!! finally I'll give it a go

  • @jamwaffles you are certainly right it takes about a quarter of the time it used to baking fluids :)

200 res just took about 2 minutes!

  • Nice fluids here! :-)

  • @Zeitfreund thanks I have some smoke in another video

  • I think 100 looks the best... 400 looks like cloth a little :D

  • @SGPMPSGA I do see what you mean but if i was only going to work with the 400 res instead of all six I could set up a situation where it looks a lot more realistic

  • I really liked how you have the resolution number beside each of them. Very informative! I love this!

  • @invisible0tom Great to hear! I don't experiment with fluids much (I'm more of a Cycles man), but I think you've convinced me to give it more attention :-P

  • You robbed NASA for it, didn't you?

  • How did you do the first one at 0:03?

  • This has been bugging me like crazy. How do you have a polygon constantly emit liquid for a certain time period?
