EcoRigs divers, scientists dove along the Florida panhandle looking for BP oil sInce the beaches have continued impact from the DWH disaster. Just as warned, T.S. Lee left crude and corexit on the beaches after the storm. BP, USCG nor the DEP has kept their promise to assess the entire panhandle for buried oil, local citizens rallied together to make this a reality. Corexit made the crude oil fall to seafloor causing additional pollution 1 yr later.
SPECIAL THANKS to:
EcoRigs, patagonia, O'NEILL, Norcross Foundation and EMERALD COAST SURFRIDER for making this happen.
AUBURN UNIVERSITY has completed a study on the dispersant and crude contamination over in Orange Beach Alabama. We have the same problem along Florida panhandle. http://pubs.acs.org/doi/pdf/10.1021/es201242k

  • The pipe at the original drill site broke hundreds of feet below the surface. Oil will seek the route of least resistance and has. There is at least 210,000 gal/day being released into the sea and will continue to do so for perhaps the next ten years. The bottom of the Gulf is 40/50 feet deep with oil.
