I saw that free energy episode with the not-free-energy Minto wheel. Based on the concept, I designed my own thermal engine. Unfortunately, I do not have access to the materials necessary to build this nor am I willing to be anywhere near mercury. Someone (hopefully the Mythbusters) please test this design. Carnot efficiency max in regular 112 F summer day with shaded 72 F temperature sink =7%. If mirrors are used to create 800 F temperatures and I maintain the 72 F cold sink, the carnot efficiency max is 58%.
