  • The Alabama Hills are composed primarily of granitic rocks not metamorphics. The spheroidal weathering exhibited in the Hills' outcrops is characteristic of granite rocks everywhere. If there are metamorphic rocks in the AHs they are there in minor amounts only.

  • Thanks for the history lesson. You might want to check into the Union Wash also. It's near the Reward Mine in the Inyos. That is across from Manzanar. The Union soldiers did some mining of their own in their off time at this location. Also Fort Independence would be a good study.
