  • Spawn is in this universe, just saying. Invincible killed him in one reality as stated in I believe issue 60. Which is one extremely good issue if I might add.

  • just read this book. It was great! Very funny, super fun to read, and i read the entire thing in a day. Could not put Invincible down, especially once the big fight at the end grabbed my attention. BTW.... I hate "superhero-y" comics. I prefer stuff like The Walking Dead and anything by Garth Ennis. But my dislike of capes and masks on the pages of a graphic novel didnt stop INVINCIBLE THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION VOL 1 being a fantastic read.

  • @GoongalaGoongala the character art is nice, but half of the backgrounds in this book are left blank. The book did seem to pick up and start building after the 2nd hardcover. I have yet to read beyond issue 24 though. But as you said it all comes down to personal preference. To me this book comes off to kiddie.

  • @GoongalaGoongala I disagree. I plan on continue reading this book at least get a few more hardcovers, but this isn't a must-read to me. There are several indie books I would put ahead of this. Such as Scalped, Fables, DMZ, Unwritten, Chew, Daytripper, Northlanders, 100 bullets, locke and key, and even more I am too lazy to list. As for superhero books there are several far superior books. Ex Machina, Hellboy, x-factor, dynamo 5, wildstorm stuff, etc

  • @krypticzisback Invincible is very much a "cliched" super hero book, but that, I think, is exactly the point. To do a super hero book that is a super hero book and not afraid to do the things a super hero book generally does. Everyone is trying to reinvent the wheel and do something new in the genre, yet Kirkmen instead goes the opposite way by just doing what some might call a stereotypical super hero book. Difference is the book is well written which helps a ton.

  • @krypticzisback (Cont) ... to get going but once it finds its stride around the time Ottley starts doing the art the book's content is fantastic. Its so well written I can't see how anyone could find complaint with it and think the book is overrated. I can understand someone not liking the book since entertainment like comic books is subjective. but even so, you can still see the genius/quality in something you don't necessarily like "personal taste wise". Easily the best super hero book around.

  • @krypticzisback Overrated?! Noway, totally disagree. The characters/super heroes in the book are cool and unique in my opinion. The art style, especially Ryan Ottley work, is stylized and has a great look to it. Cory Walker's brief run was alright, but I much prefer Ottly. And as I've seen others mention the storytelling just has this "epic" feel to it. And there is absolutely some solid character devlopment going on during the course of the book. if anything I think the book takes a bit

  • Agree with pretty much everything you said. Invincible was a book I had always heard great things about but never got around to picking up and now that I'm into the series, WOULD be kicking myself for not getting into it earlier if the books weren't all available via trade.

I'm only up to Vol. 2 but I have also been somewhat following the current issues as well and using the Trades to mostly fill in the gaps and "catch up". For me the series is too good to not follow the current arcs.

  • @GODNEEDSASTARSHIP i've read the first 2 hardcover. I admit the 2nd hardcover is better then the 1st, but for the amount of hype it gets its rather weak. Fear Agent is far superior to this and gets nowhere near as much praise.

  • @GODNEEDSASTARSHIP would have been better if he built it up.
