Zone Teams Showjumping Challenge 2009

Our debut at the zone teams showjumping challenge, its a bit late but meh.

i had the best team, with me being the least experienced and the only D grader. and fitz played the part really well haha a few rails here and there but so did PLENTY of others haha. we came 3rd over all for the weekend against 13 other teams. learnt LOADs this weekend and had a great time. our zone only had 1 team in each of the age groups and i laugh at the last few vids were u can see how tiny our zone was against the others haha, mind u the 12 and unders pulled off 2nd place also and they didnt have a discard score like us seniors did.

The first round of the AM5 was not the most stylish but it sure did the job haha, we were one of the only teams 2 have all four riders clear and as i was the 3rd rider took the pressure off the last rider who was our A/B grader and back up haha. i slowmo-ed the part where fitz tries so hard and gets a deep spot and flings me in the air a bit and i loose both my stirrups just before a large combination haha forcing me 2 jump by the seet of my pants... literally :P thought it was funny seing my stirrups flap about.

unfortunately in the jump off we had myself and my friend nocked the same rail :P so we had 4 faults and came 5th in that event.

the accumulator was quite interesting as id never done it before and for those who dont know its a course u must follow with each jump a set of points if u jump it clear u get those points (like topscore) if u drob the rail u dont get any points but u dont get them taken off. at the end u get an option 2 do a joker which is worth 20, fastest time and most points wins. many people were trying many crazy turns in particular from 1 to 2 they were ducking inside the jumps there. it was agreed in our course walk that i would be the back up in case one of them had trouble, so i took the safe routes which i was more comfortable with and didnt attempt the joker. my team did a great job at pulling off the above turn (sooo many people tried and crashed and burned, someone even didnt make the turn and jumped 10 instead so was eliminated) and cleared the joker. the jump i knocked fell down ALOT hahaha only one in my team jumped it clear the rest of us only had that 1 down and it was a large, very boxy, natural oxer on a strange line, kind of crooked not a pleasent jump. we came 3rd in this event :D we didnt expect it and had 2 tack our horses back up when they called us haha.

the AM6 was the round i was most worriend about because thats when i would actually have 2 jump above my comfort zone in the jump offs. our first rider unfortunately had a rail and refusal so it really put the pressure on the rest of us 2 go clear or it was bye bye. didnt help we were first up. the rest of us went clear besides my 1 rail, but turns out, only 2 teams went clear and in2 the jump offs and the other teams had 8 or more faults, so we got an immediate 3rd place and didnt have 2 jump off thankfully.

its a bit of a boring video, but shows how far we have come in a year. enjoy :)

WOW, u have come so far!, how big are the jumps in the 1st and 2nd rounds ?

well for my age group its starting height 1m. so the jump off for the first round were about 1.10 maybe cos they got put up. then in the accumulator it was a variety because its ment 2 get progressively harder including the lines of the jumps, i think the joker was probs 1.20 not sure about the rest :P

haha thanks, u can see him in the line up :P hes so big its hard 2 miss haha. i think 2010 is alot of peoples years haha gonna be tougher than ever.
