dot get me wrong i think cutting horses is a very hard and intelligant sport, but i feel bad for the cattle, they must be scared.

im sorry but that is incorrect, i am a competitior. You are not allowed to pick up the reins once you put your hand down, and there is a whole bunch more. but you are allowed to use your legs. it takes alot of practice for horse and rider to be able to do this.

actually, I don't know how it is in the smaller rodeos, but i know in the more professional ones, a cowboy will gets points deducted if he helps/interferes with the horse at all. He is just supposed to sit there and let the horse do his job.

ya they do, they use their cowside leg which is why there is specific cutting chaps, so the judges don't see. You have to open the leg in the direction the horse is moving, which can become challenging.

Rider isn't even doing anything. Just along for the ride, on a beyond extremely intelligent horse thats ready to play with some cows. ;)
