Very nice! The cost right now is still too high though. However, I think a lot of factors have to be considered. If you are planning on staying in that place for a long time it would be worth it.
But there is also something else. If all hell breaks lose in this country, or there is an EMP or something crazy, you will be one of the few that actually still have power, depending on how your system is wired. You could become the new electric co for your area...lol

Very advanced and very expensive , nice if you are rich but I hope something this size but simple is going to cost 8000 EU and not more. Maybe is not going to be high-quality and look very nice like this but is going to works for 15-20 Years. I think China is going to sell such a staff very soon. They sell now GOLDWIND 750kW Wind Turbines for under 300 000 . That is 2,5kW for 1000 Eur..

Where do you get these turbines?

This is awesome! I'm really jealous right now. I'm very ignorant to this stuff, can you store power if you have a surplus? I'm assuming that your house automatically switches to and from the power grid depending on the wind??? just curious. Again, very cool :)

wouldn't it be a good idea to pull the top pins and retract your rams? if those shafts begin rusting you can tear up the hydraulic seals.
-
@fanbutton I know that, but I was wondering if that was enough to power an entire house, thanks!

@platinum243125 KW = KiloWatt = 1,000 watts. Remember, a kilo means 1,000 units or whatever, whether it be a kilometer, a kilogram, or a kilowatt. I hope this helps.

What you conveniently left out was the cost to you to purchase this hot commodity and its support equipment. I hear these things can run anywhere upwards of $300,000 each. Where's the payoff?

@alexdrudigmail I don't have a wind turbine so I don't know. All I know is that I've read that my PV controller can also be used as a diversion controller for a wind turbine, i.e., it can operate in shunt mode whereby it connects a resistor to the source when the voltage gets too high because the source is generating more power than the load and batteries can absorb.

@ApolloWasReal Couldn't the failsafe be just automatically turn the blades to idle angle?

So even the Amis can live without atom Energy! I say it, because the Amis continuously laugh about the German way to say good bye to the atom Energy!
Price? itwas about 30. But now i think its around 45 but the system has been upgraded tremendously . Taller towers too!!

that panel is actually a transfer switch that acts like a big shut off switch. So its basically a disconnect switch. We use them for hot tubs, air condition units and various outdoors uses. And yes its in Canada

10kW, so you'll get about 3kW average. 8760 hours per year gives you 26,280kWh per annum. By say 10c per kW = $2,628 per annum. Payback in what? 20 years!

@coggy5 it does average more than that. Im with in 1.5 kilometers from the lake on a higher attitude. It gets windy here!!! All the time. We did some calculations and we were expecting 5 years... But in reality with some minor break downs and some wind storms we figure 6 t0 7 years comfortably. Within 10 hopefully. Im happy with it
