One of my favorite scenes from Season 2. I especially love the reaction at 1:15 by Torrio -- no slouch at criminal organization himself -- to this flamboyant speech. This show has so many small but telling gestures by the actors. Best cast on TV!

I just attributed it to Dempsey's inactivity during his reign and his long layoff, wasn't it something like two years? I haven't read that book, but I'll have to grab a copy, seems interesting.

In the first fight, the story isn't that he paid the judges, but that Dempsey was drugged, just like Rothstein was known to do to horses in races. That's why Dempsey looked like crap in the first fight. The book titled Rothstein talks about the fix in great detail. It's not conclusive but it certainly does look that way.
