Some old film footage that my grandfather shot over the years of The hydroplane boat races. The races are called the Detroit APBA Gold Cup and it is the oldest active trophy in all of motorsports! The trophy was first awarded in 1904! This is bits and pieces of the races that was shot from the Detroit Boat Club's docks starting around about 1946 - 1949. This is one of the events I absolutely miss the most about the Boat Club. Had such great times watching those amazingly fast AND LOUD speed boats practicing during the week that lead up to the actual weekend races.
