Rural Church Youth Ministries develops Student Leaders through Ministry Camps/Rural Missions. A Ministry Camp is a low-cost, high-impact, five to seven day creative ministry strategy that a youth director can use for the more committed youth in their church. This is a unique peer-to-peer ministry opportunity for potential and existing student leaders. By using a rural church setting as a platform for developing these student leaders, youth workers can bring about the spiritual depth and ministry skill development they desire for their students.
Every youth worker realizes the necessity of developing teens for ministry. Tom Horton, as a youth leader, saw the opportunity to meet the need of both his young people and their peers in rural communities at the same time. Thus, Ministry Camps came into being.
Partnerships between larger youth ministries and rural churches are a practical way to address the youth ministry needs of the rural church. There are not likely to be any other youth ministry outreach in the rural community without an outside group's involvement. This is a truly win-win strategy for both groups.
