I'm not entirely happy with this recording. Like always, when the lights come on I lose some touch and make some bobbles. This is also the second day since I put the sheet music away (except for the single page you see) and I was worrying so much about the notes that I lost a bit of the music.

All that aside, I wanted to get a video of this song 'banked' and I'm about to have very little time outside of work for the next month.

Hopefully there's something to enjoy here in my rendition of this beautiful song.

Video: Flip UltraHD
Audio: Zoom H2 (normalized in GoldWave)
Synced and mixed in Avidemux 2.4 GTK+

  • is this a hard song to learn?

  • @matthiavia Just to play the notes is not the most difficult thing. Not easy, but there are certainly more challenging songs. Hardest is to get the right emphasis on the right notes, and to play flowing and smoothly. This rendition is ok but I'm better at it now. It is nice to play. I still enjoy it every time I play it.

  • You should clue us in on where the zoom H2 was positioned to get those harmonics.

Ive been using a Kodak Zi8 with the mic in and running the H2 into its mic input...and a Zi6 for 2nd angles

  • I simply set the H2 on the rim of the piano to the right of the music desk, angled about 45 degrees with both mics pointing into the piano. In this video it would be just off the screen at the top right.

  • very nice, i realy enjoyed listening to you. its a very nice piece. great job!

  • Thanks.

  • @matthiavia I was in grade 4 piano when i learned this, at 12 years old. . . i took me about 2 months to have the whole thing learned and memorized. . . it's nice, because you can vary the loudness and speed alot. I was going to play it at my recital but i would take me 6 minutes so i couldn't :(

  • will you please do a tutorial and show us all how you play this so amazingly ?

i would love to do it for my assessment at school and im sure many people would appreciate it. i certainly would, your an amazing pianist!

  • Don't be afraid to put your own touch on it. It doesn't have to be a constant tempo the entire time straiht through. Add some emotional pauses between specific phrases or slow down and then speed right back up again at others. Still, amazing job.

  • My Lord! I have never heard of this song! But I would love to play it to my family cos we all love Ludovico Einaudi!

  • oh my. this is stunningly beautiful. I just finished learning I Giorni. Where can i find the sheet music for this?

  • perfect

  • I really like the sound of this. Kind of reminds me of a distant memory.
