The incredible Scotty Anderson accompanied by the great Bob Saxton performing at the Ohio Fingerstyle Guitar Club http://ofgc.bizland.com/ in Feb 2005. Great version of this classic song. Check out Scotty's website at http://scottyandersonguitar.com/

  • There's no one even remotely close to Scotty's caliber. Simply genius.

  • pretty unbelievable........

  • This guy is sick

  • @guitarjjte I know your site which is great for gypsy jazz....I would like to hear Scotty , Birelli, Sylvain Luc, Joscho on the same program....There are few who can play at this level....Scotty needs a wider audience no doubt....

  • This is a very special clip and may be one of my favorites. Both players are great. This is really as good as it gets in my book.

  • @writerdave: Anderson's style alternates using the thumbpick (TP) alone and also TP plus his fingers, to play faster single-note, double, and triple stop runs as well as chords. His style is very idiosyncratic, and unique perhaps only to him. With his spreading renown, there are a few people doing what he does, or trying to, but not many. He's a marvel.

  • @guitarman63mm: Chet himself said of Scotty,"The man plays like he's doubled-parked!" and dozens of the world's best guitarists besides Chet have attested to Scotty's brilliance. Showboating? Nope, just a different way of hearing and playing the instrument that Chet, is all. Both men were brilliant, but had different styles. Scotty is a country-jazz performer, primarily. Chet played alot of styles, but wasn't a jazz player to the degree Anderson is. That's my two cents worth...

  • great

  • @Chromatype It's oinly called racing when the tempo increases. Sax playeres are usually accompanied by a rhythm section which locks the tempo down, leaving them to fly all over the shop. Two guitarists aren't the same thing, and they can feed off each other. Scotty is brilliant, but he has form in the "racing stakes"- check out the Mystery Train opening of his Hot Licks vid w/Arlen Roth and he is definitely pushing the tempo faster.

  • Sax players play that fast and it's not racing, but when guitar players play that fast...it's called racing...why?
