Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) questioned Secretary Timothy Geithner and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke Tuesday on Capitol Hill in a lengthy exchange, where the congresswoman repeatedly asked what part of the constitution gave the Fed and Treasury the powers they have already taken in the ongoing financial crisis.

Congress has the same power to repeal the act and abolish the Federal Reserve if they want to.
This video shows she's either incredibly ignorant on how our Government functions, or she's just playing to the crowd that wants to use the Federal Reserve and the Secretary as a scape goat for something we all share blame for.
and for the record, I have no hat to take off, I'm a registered independent.
When she says "What provision in the constitution gives you authority etc.", she shows that she has no understanding of the constitution. One thing it does is give the legislative branch (congress) power to pass law, like The Federal Reserve Act of 1913, which gave them the power to do everything they've done thus far.
Her question is as ridiculous as going up to a police officer and asking him "Officer, what part of provision constitution allows you to give me a speeding ticket?"
Obviously, the lady understands how this government works. Put your partisan hat off to the side. In fact, over 300 members of the House co-sponsored a bill to audit the Federal Reserve. Since there are only 178 Republicans, CLEARLY there is a great deal of curiosity on both ends of the political spectrum on this and similar issues--such as are discussed in this clip. Try not to be an ass. Try thinking.
Very well put Michele Bachmann. Thank you for standing up for our freedom & constitution. 40,000 showed up today in Washington DC on Nov. 5th on a work day, at a moments notice, no busing in people and I know dozens more than wished they could be there. So proud. The truth is if we continue to spend, all the people who think they are getting something from this tax & spend will find they are more poor than ever and there will be no rich, no middle class to help them. The dollar will be gone.
It was unconstitutional. Most of what government does today is unconstitutional. The constitution gives specific and limited power to do specific activites such as: run a post office, build roads, regulated interstate commerce, etc. This is not within their power. Unfortunately we have not been living within the confines of the constitution for a long period of time. The progressives in the early 1900 had control over all branches of government and alot got though.
