A direct, honest, angry and sincere analysis of british-born black youths.
Set in 1970, Oves first film was about a teenager named Tony, the English-born son of Trinidadian parents living in Notting Hill. Tony finds himself alienated from his white friends and white values, and follows the lead of a militant older brother into involvement with Black Power, while still being divided by his loyalties and identityfinds himself. Tony torn between his parents' church going conformity and his brother's Black Power militancy.
Ové brilliantly finds his way to deals with the identity struggles that children of immigrants have to face.
@ukshasha Wow! that's amazing... what was it like during the shoot? and during that time? I'd really like to know cause I've been working for some years now on a treatment for a screenplay that deals with that time, those characters and the social conflict. Any info you could give would be really helpful and appreciated.
