But for me, it has been useful to shut down illegal links to my popular products -- and they are all offshore -- but they host with companies who wish to stay in compliance with US law -- Asia, Netherlands, etc. -- they all have cooperated with my takedown requests -- and the forums, websites, etc. that are doing the sharing are cooperating, too -- because I get their hosting canceled, or their PayPal accounts banned. I've stared down some pretty scary looking Black Hat forums and gotten surprisingly compliance, once their web host is involved.
