I'm not sure if I'd consider a catgirl a 'furry'. When I imagine a furry, I usually expect an animal with human attributes. However, the girl here is a human with animal attributes, kinda like spiderman.
I also believe Furries originated from America and Europe, not Japan.
In conclusion, this catgirl... is NOT a (traditional) furry! But if not a furry, then what do I call it? =/

@ManintheArmor sexy?

Ya know, that looks cute, but the sides of her head would look really weird.

They aren't sexy to me (since I am a straight woman) but I love anthropomorphic characters in general. :D

I love catgirls too ever since i was 4 25 years ago when i had a crush on Cleo from Heathcliff, Cheetara and M'ress from Star Trek. They are such sexy creatures don't you think? what do you think of those 3 chicks and what about Cheetah on Justice League, April O'Neil as a Catwoman, Jenny from Bucky O'Hare, Callie from Swat Kats, Aishia Clan clan, The Puma Sisters and even Selena Kyle on that Batman TAS episode where she becomes an ACTUAL Catwoman? all sexy to me.

Is it weird that I consider Japanese cat girls more furry than their beastly western counterparts? In anime, most cat girls act rather cat like by meowing and purring, while most western cat folks (who look more catlike) act more human.
Japanese cat girls are okay, but I prefer the beastly ones instead of the one that just have cat ears and a tail. :/

That guy looks like a young sephiroth
Hm, what are they called... nekos? Yes that is it, a human with cat ears.

@MrGameAndVVatch No, they are not called Nekos, and I really really wish people would stop calling them that, makes the English-speakers sound ignorant. "Neko" is Japanese for cat, NOT catgirl or cat person or anything else, its the Japanese word for cat. Seriously, if you are an English speaker, just call them catgirls. If you just HAVE to insert random Japanese into your English, then the closest word you are looking for is "Nekomimi", which literally means "cat ear".

I can understand the ears, but how did she hide her tail?

@CyberAkumaZero
But all catgirls have tails!

@dimentiorules
There are many animalgirls that only have the ears. For example, look at the "Can a wolfgirl be a pet?" video I uploaded to my account, its a wolfgirl who only has ears too, no tail.
Personally though I prefer they have tails too :)
