In the waters of the Pacific Northwest - 3 pods of Orcas known as the Southern Residents occasionally swim together called SUPERPOD. Here are clips and stills by Lorie & I from our 2008 adventure aboard the Prince of Whales along with their superb crew and guests. One of the whales in the film, J1 "Ruffles" 57 years old at this filming, has a 6' dorsal fin that's waviness looks - well like ruffles. The background song is one I wrote to the Orcas with accompaniment by friend Bill Drake. The actual southern resident Orca sounds were recorded by Captain Jim of Salish Sea.

  • That is so cool.:)

  • Amazing video! I can't wait to go whale watching! I want to see the Pacific Northwest pods! It's absolutely amazing that J pod has a 97 year old member. I can only imagine what Granny has seen. LOL. What a great sight to see, wild orcas in a superpod.
