Regarding the very last line: Usually it was, "...will not be seen tonight, due to network pre-emption on the mainland." That probably was before 1982, though.
The Waikiki Trade Center initially was advertised as an upscale joint, as this commercial shows, but unfortunately the opening tenants of the ground floor and second floor didn't end up lasting that long - and after that, it was just a succession of low-budget businesses.

I worked at the Burger King @ Waikiki Trade Center in the 80's as a teen. It totally sucked!
