i notice that in some particular areas

(like this one) i somehow didn't need the

mist grab, in case i fail the mist grab

ill go to the edge of the floor and where i have free motion i just fly as bat/mist or i do a gravity jump and go to the ceiling .

If i go to far to the edge the shift is gone and im stuck in the floor .

Correct. if you are going along a corridor that has no obstacles/holes then you don't need the mist. The game puts you into the shiftline as long as you stay in it then you can fly up however you need. just if you exit the shiftline you are stuck in the floor till you exit

it really depends on if its set up correctly. As long as the spot you want to pass through is off the screen 1-2" then you should be alright. It will take you about 80-100 Heart refreshes to move that whole distance though.
