Jim Linfield, attorney Cooley LLP and CBSA board member. Recorded on May 27, 2010, at the Colorado State Capitol. Following President Obama's signing of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, the question of its impact has been on the minds of everyone especially those within the bioscience industry. Several of the pieces that come out of the health care reform package impact the industry, from the addition of more than 32 million new individuals in the health care system, to the Cures Acceleration Network, to the Therapeutic Discovery Tax Credit, to the Physician Payments Sunshine Act, many individuals are still curious to see what the exact impact on the industry will be. While many of these answers are still to be determined, Jim Linfield, Partner with Cooley LLP will begin to layout the frame work on what our industry should expect. In addition to health care reform, the financial burdens and constraints are still of concern to many bioscience companies in Colorado. The main question is how can we attract more capital to the state and to the life science industry in Colorado. Mr. Linfield will also discuss the barriers that companies need to overcome and explain what steps Colorado could take in order to become a more investor-friendly environment. Thank you to Cooley Godward Kronish LLP for Sponsoring this Event!
