I'm affraid that George VI and the Queen Mother were far too harsh on the Duke of Windsor. They threatened to cut off his allowance if he returned to live in Britain without permission. I mean he did a bad thing by abdicating the british throne but he is your family for fuck's sake. You don't cut off you're own brother just for living in his home country. All headed by the Queen Mother of course.

Ignorance is not a virtue, and without going into too much detail, Hitler had ambitions to not only overturn the Treaty of Versailles and restore Germany to a great power, but also to achieve what his nation had failed in WW1, and become THE world power.
