  • how did u get onlive on ubuntu

  • @santeeboi09 Installed on a PC, then I copied the program folder over.

  • Did this not work before? Is there not a lot of DRM to get around?

  • @ShadowEater120880 DRM was never an issue, it was just the compatibility of WINE with the OnLive Windows program.

As of now, a problem is raw USB input, which stopped direct mouse control. Some people reported this working and there's some hack that's been around to make it work with older versions of WINE.

I'm not really booted into Linux enough for now, so I can't say how well each version of WINE works with the latest OnLive client.

  • @frigginjoe So PS2 mouse is ok? ;)

  • @ShadowEater120880 That's an interesting question.

I know there were issues with missing direct usb input, but maybe if you use a ps/2 mouse the OnLive program itself translates it. Give it a shot and let me(us) know.

I use a laptop without that interface, or I would've tried that myself.

  • @Rampage4720 Read the description you ignorant twat. I said it on the first line.

On the subject of ignorance, I guess you are also unaware that with WINE, things can change for the better or worse with each minor version update between it, the Linux distro, and the program in question.

People are getting it to work well now, mouse control and everything by compiling in a fix for it themselves (note the video reply).

  • @frigginjoe I just submitted a post on this a few days ago. It's working now, through the latest wine (1.3.27) and the latest client, wine has to patched and built from source though.

  • @Darkteammadfiz I can't say it's the best, nor do I really like the direction its taking as a distro, but I just happen to come from Debian so I liked having the core of that in a made-for-primetime package since its earlier days. It just happened to be what I install on machines, but I'm not a proponent of Ubuntu by any means.
