Will the Hawaii Superferry Kill Humpback Whales?

The video shows that the coming Hawaii superferries wil kill whales and other marine mammals. It includes results of how similar fast ferries hav killed whales in the Canary Islands.

Whales are struck by ships on occasion. It's unfortunate but it happens. I don't see what the big deal is. I read an article where a mariner in Alaska only could recall 3 such incidents in 20 years! One of them was put in a museum and dead whales provide a lot of food to the other animals in the ocean. People watch too many Disney movies. I think it's getting a little ridiculous.

Wow, that would be cool, if it works... But, since that thing turns in a way that changes the course by miles to the left or right... I wonder if whales could still move out of the danger zone.If it stayed pretty straight, might really help.

The Spinner dolphins have definite alarm tones. Seems to be an "I am lost" call, too.

I agree 100%. We need to learn their language well enough to find out what the song is for a warning, then broadcast the song underwater. It would take time, but we have enough brains on the planet to do it. It could be used for all large ships.
