The Alpha 680 from Skytone is the world's first Android netbook, and features both a touch screen and the ability to be used as a tablet pc. It is the first attempt we've seen at merging the capabilities of a smartphone and a netbook into one ultimate portable device. In this review we put the Alpha 680 to the test to find out if it has a future in netbook history, or a future of being sold on eBay for a bargain price!

  • "We need somebody like Apple...." WHAT!?

  • @t0f0b0 -right, a company "like Apple", not Apple itself. Obviously Apple has no interest in developing Android OS devices, we just meant a company that puts design at the forefront. Note our video was made pre-iPad.

  • @roklandtv Yeah, that was kind of stupid of me to not notice the date. I was quick to jump on you for the Apple reference also. I like that Android is more open than iOS.

  • @t0f0b0 no worries, it probably wasn't phrased in the best manner. We were basically trying to make the point that, at the time, it had some cool features but needed some big improvements to become a must-have device. We did find out later on the yellow color ended up being on a model marketed toward children, while they had a black model made for professional use, so that helped a little but it was still the same device.

  • Where can you get this laptop!

  • @redchimara I am not sure if they ever ended up bringing it to the USA. The iPad came out the following Spring, so that was a tough time to bring competing items to market. Some time after the review we went to power up the device to get it ready for sale, but your's truly hooked in the wrong power supply, and well, that was all she wrote.

  • i don't know what you fools are complaining about. $100 for a computer i can use on-the-go. i can work on docs, blog, youtube on a laptop that will let me type when i fly econ. if you're complaining about the screen size and internet...dumb ass you work with a smartphone screen don't you?

and the price!! netbooks should not even cost cost beyond $150 how are you gonna charge me for the convenience of 'smaller'?
