The reasons why I suggest he could've gone by either "Johnny Knockout" or "Johnny Power-out" is because his choice of stage name, basically the name "Johnny" as accented by his German foreparents, ended up sounding rather too feminine (to "Janie," sadly), and that may have hurt him later on.

A better stage name for this guy than "Jani(e) Lane" could've been "Johnny Knockout," because his real initials are J.K.O. (meaning John Kennedy Oswald), and also because he was a literal "knockout" among his Warrant bandmates.

I also wonder if "Johnny Power-out" would've worked, too, after the change of his middle name from Kennedy to Patrick (y'know, J.P.O.)?
