  • That final half-phrase that dips into the abyss of silence after the fugue's floating eloquence is a mystical experience every time!

  • @Lucab94 But he did not die after writing the last note. Furthermore, the evidence suggests that the fugue was propbably finished but the final pages lost by his heirs. Read "Bach's Last Fugue Unfinished?" in "Bach: Essays on His Life and Music" by Christoph Wolff (Bach scholar, Professor of Music, Dean of Grad. School of Arts & Sciences, Harvard University, Dir. of Bach-Archiv, Leipzig).

  • It's creepy to think that Bach died after writing the last note of this unfinished fugue...
