abs, esp, airbag etc first were fit on S class.....night view assist, distronic, massage and dynamic seats, soft close doors, blind spot assist and etc were first on S class...i don't say to rise merc but that is the truth...and this is the way should be...someone to invent and others to take...is part of progres!
this technology is old compared to the S class..I own the S clas and is much more simple(all automatic):you don't have to push all that buttons.the night view is too dark and not definied:it seems a game, it doesn't help; in the S class you cuold drive only looking at the display!! and the bmw cruise control is just too rudimental compared to the S class distronic plus(more advanced). It seems like BMW wanted to imitate mercedes, but this technology is too advanced for BMW.they have to improve!
Actually the 7 series has this tecnology since the restyiling of 2009...the S class has a computerised system sice 2 generations ago...but even in case the bmw was the first, it seems old compared to the merc's...besides I didn't say who was the first, but whose is better...
The iDrive system was implemented in 2001. Two generations ago Merc were actually building interesting cars. The S-class is so senile, that's partly the problem. It's just so boring. Once Merc fix that then it will be true competition for the flair of the 7 series.
How can the ultimate technology be boring or senile??The simpler it is the better it is...do you mean that you would prefer to push all that buttons and have worse quality instead of doing that by voice or by itself?just because it is too simple and so boring??don't be ridiculous..don't misunderstand me:I like 7 series but in tech the S class is better, even because the Comand has been awarded as the most intelligent computerised system:it doesn't need to be fixed,it's perfect:I can say that! ;)
I say senile because the styling is just so, well, boring. The drive quality, moreover, is even worse. What BMW offers is a more finely-customiseable means of operating; so yes, I will be will to push more buttons to configure the car to my personal preferences. Of course, the S Class is a very finely made car. However, it doesn't, by any means, turn heads.
well, style is subjective:in my opinion for example the 7 series is ugly for being a luxury car...Besides there aren't cars on the market more customizable than mercs. If you didn't know, in the comparison between the S class(2005) and the 7 series(2009), the merc results to be better in brakes, skipad(so better drive quality and suspension despite 100-200 kg more of weight), comfort, engine smoothness, better refined...in the slalom they did the same results...just search on youtube for it...;)
