Stepper motors are used for precision movement. Wings based on model of the chinese fan. Not shown here, this machine uses a proximity sensor to judge the distance of a viewer. When some comes within 8 feet, the wings open and start to flap. As the viewer moves closer, the flapping spees up as though the machine becomes timid. When the viewer walks away, the wings finish their cycle and close, awaiting the next viewer. It's art. Art is not always utilitarian, but does great things for inspiration. Don't you agree?

  • Very good video of a very good idea. I like your modeling on a Chinese fan and think it would do very well. I also like the idea of a proximity sensor and consider it a great idea, not only if only for art, but also for lifelike movements autonomously. Thank you for posting this.
