Blue screen real time effects 1993. Done during an internship. I had some free time on my hands. Posted strictly for your amusement. I can now do much better with CGI, but remember, these were real models I built. All movement done with camera moves and zoom. Essentially filmed "live".

lol come on. You and those who believe that must be blind. Do you think I'm stupid? These are still photos with pans and zooms only in 2D. The perspective never changes nor does the lighting.

The model is nice, I would have loved to see real scenes with it.

  • It is exactly as I have stated. You don't have to believe it. Ask yourself, why would I bother lying about something so inconsequential?

The lighting doesn't change because only the camera is moving, the models are stationary. The camera was mounted on a boom and you can see the inexpert side-to-side movements on the shots where I moved rather than zoomed.

  • Nice. I have always wanted to do modlework with bluescreen. 5 stars.

P.S.: What is the music for between :55 and 1:07?

  • It's from the STNG episode, The Best of Both Worlds.

  • AMT just re-released them. Look for them on hobby kit shelves.

  • One flaw I found with the AMT/Ertl Enterprise 1701-A were the pylons for the warp nacelles. They were always flimsy and tended to snap off, and I have no idea how many times I spent repairing my Enterprise 1701-A model (which is my oldest model).

  • The description of this video is wrong man, the line "I can now do better with CGI" WRONG WRONG WRONG. CGI will never be as good or real than actual models. I know this video isn't great but It's good to see that someone is still sticking to old school or should I say real film making. Better lighting, detail, and shutter speeds will make this look as good as the real thing. Keep up the good work.

  • P.S. to jefrystube. Why were the comments disabled on your "flying van" vid?

  • Not bad. Not bad at all. Especially considering that u built the models.

1993?! Damn, that goes back awhile. CGI is nice, but there's something to be said about using real models. Nice "chatting" with u my cyber friend. Have a good one!

  • this is how star trek would have looked on BBC.

  • @Excelsior2007 holy christ!! you only found one flaw?! that fucking kit is a disaster.

  • cool

  • Very cool.

  • I have one of the 1979 enterprises and the arms didn't snap off. I found that the seam split over 20+years right at the junction point on the 2ndary hull though.

  • hmmmmmmmm the TOS Enteprise vs the 24 year old Klingon bird of prey who would win out of that?
