I know that the number is different. But assembly is rather similar.

Not really, count the number of edges attached to the core, there is 4, and the rubiks cube has 6, its a lot different.

Oh...so that's how mechanism works. Centers are like edges of the original Rubik's cube. Half of the corners are like centers of the original Rubik's cube and rest of the corners act like..ummm...corners.

Since the core is similar to that of the pyraminx, does anyone think it'd be possible to make a custom skewb from it?
