This classic Bob Wills Western Swing song is given a fine treatment by Marty and his band. The pianist is Bill Pursell who played on many recording sessions for Marty and had a hit record in the 60's with a piano instrumental called 'Our Winter Love.'
The lead guitarist is Jack Pruett who was with Marty for nigh on 30 years and was the brother of Sammy Pruett who was in Hank Williams's band and also one time husband of country thrush Jeanne Pruett.

  • It was 1968/69 when these shows were filmed. I have vague memories of one album on Columbia Records featuring his hit 'Our Winter Love.'

  • I just checked 'Our Winter Love' on Google and it's available on CD.

  • The guitarists are Bobby Sykes and Jack Pruett. I totally agree about Bill Pursell.

  • @hatenate8 im trying to learn it, ill get back to you

  • If any guitarists can figure out that Pruett solo and post it here I'd appreciate it. The key is A major. The solo is only 16 seconds long and includes pretty much only A major and E mixolydian scales but what are the positions and fingerings? I can't tell if he's playing the second phrase in 4th or 5th position. It might hold the key to all western swing guitar improvisation techniques for me. If I can learn it I'll post a lesson video for it. Only two chords and still such good music!

  • Pursell IS great. I wonder when this was shot.
