This is a car with a paint spillage that we clean up at the beginning of June 2008.
There has been an explosion in recent years of TV DIY shows like the BBC's Changing Rooms and CH4s Grand Designs... well this is the part they don't show you! When the sun comes out, everybody seems to rush out to the DIY centre to buy paint. They put the cans of paint in the boot, the sun makes the paint hot and the lids pop off. We clean up a lot of these at certain times of the year... we once did 4 in a week! It's a very common problem, but the crisis need not be a disaster. We can remove emulsion fairly easily, but the sooner we get to it, the easier it is, the less it will cost.
Varnish, exterior paints, enamels and fence paint can also be done, but they are a lot harder to do and you may need to claim on your insurance.

We recommend that you keep certain items in your car that may come in handy and help to protect you and your vehicle. One of these is a black bin liner. It won't take up much space and weighs nothing, and should you find yourself buying paint on a whim, you can put it in the bin liner so that if the lid should come off, it minimizes the chance of you needing to get us to clean it up.

  • It's a legal requirement that any water we put into the drainage system be clean. Besides the guy who set up the company is an environmentalist! So our wash bays are surrounded by gutters that go into three in-line interceptors. So our waste water is cleaned not once, but thrice! On our new building we are looking at using filtered rainwater and heating it with solar power. I'd say that it's something we are serious about, but we have a lot of fun planning it!

  • With the Jet Wash of the paint off the surface what is happening with the liquid, because i would think that it is not a good idea for it to go into the drains. surly jet washing into in a tanked off area and then ussing something like sand to soke it up is more preferable. . .
