  • can i just ask what do you consider the correct size cage for housing 2 canaries on a day to day basis? As i'm looking into getting some canaries &/or songbirds & you are so knowledgable...hope you dont mind me asking :)

  • @onenephillim666 the size of cage should be as big as possible with a min size of 18" x 18" x 18" but if you are going to breed your birds you should use a double breeder 36" x 18" x 12" i hope this helps hope you will like your birds its good to keep birds

  • well done thats grate but most breeders cut the feathers around the femails vent just leaving just the main feathers that protude from the vent as they help to guide the males sperm into the vent. i have never heard of anyone cutting the mails feathers.

  • Thanks for the intrest

  • no sorry have let all my spare birds go, you have to keep 2 or more spare hens incase you lose one or two during the breeding season some times you find them dead on the nest.

  • yes sold to other breeders. i still have 2 goldfinch mules one 2009 and one from last year they are both tame and come into the house to sing they take food from my hand and mouth if you let them, i also have a pair of goldfinches in the outside flight they are not so tame and go made when you feed them i will do a vid. a lot of breeders in the uk keep siberian goldfinches as they are biger so they make a larger mule.

  • hey, how r u doing

remember when i told u about my female that have had 6 clear eggs :(

she have laid again 5 eggs and this time all fertile ;) but i've lost 1 egg it has been dropped out of the nest so now i have 3 young that have hatched 1 Monday and 2 yesterday and i am waiting for the last one ;)

i thing the problem was from the male the 1st time cuz it's a feathery non-intensive cock so i've cut feather around it's thing :P

  • Thanks for sharing mate!
