For many, Hardy Jackson was the first face associated with being a Hurricane Katrina victim. He lived in BIloxi, Ms. where a 25+ft. category FIVE TSUNAMI washed his home and wife away thus proving that the NATURAL DISASTER of Hurricane Katrina affected Mississippi far worse than New Orleans. That said the MAN MADE disaster in New Orleans due to the failure of the levees was a tragic event of epic proportions. And so we all suffered. I was living on 2nd St. in Gulfport, Ms. approx. 200 yards from the water so we left around 3pm on Sunday heading east to miss the storm. We wound up in Lake Park, Georgia on Monday. Of course, we had to watc the news of the storm so like everyone else we saw this video of Hardy Jackson while there. This footage was quite sad. And so we celebrated our wedding anniversary 082905 in a strange motel in Georgia watching the footage we knew our home was toast. We drove back to Gulfport on Tuesday morning and our fears were confirmed thus proving that www.hurricanekatrinasucked.com

It's weird to see these stories. After the hurricane hit, we were w/out power for 9 days, so we didn't know what was going on, on t.v. I live in Gulfport, and we stayed during the storm. 4 years later, my house still isn't finished with repairs. But I'd never leave. That was a 100 yr. storm.
