In his 5-part oral history interview, television producer / director/ writer /creator Sheldon Leonard (1907-97) shares his fondest memories about the pioneering programs he produced such as The Danny Thomas Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Andy Griffith Show, and I Spy. He also speaks highly of the talented group of people he worked with like Danny Thomas, Mary Tyler Moore, Bill Cosby, Dick Van Dyke, Carl Reiner and Andy Griffith.

  • It is painful to watch Mr. Leaonard coughing uncontrollably and know he died just six months after this interview.

    This guy did it all: writer, director, producer, actor. I'm glad they got this interview before he passed.

  • Sheldon Leonard is one of the all-time greats of television. We'll still be watching his shows a hundred years from now.
