A 50 year long trip with a problem inside my head comes to an end with a decompression operation.

Removed a 30-35mm by 20-25mm section of skull and the C1 posterior arch.

  • Hi Steve hope all is well, My name is Chris and live near pontefract. I was told I had arnold chiari malfomation about 7 years ago after a mri scan for a suspected stroke. Looking back now i know i did'nt have a stroke i just think it was the chiari kicking in.

I've been fine for years they said i would get headaches in years to come. By the looks of things time has come.

My doctor said he does'nt think the burning pain in my head and back will be anything todo with chiari.

    Hiya,

Can I start by saying that I am sorry to hear that you too have ACM.

It is difficult to write on such a public site, but if you would like to send me an email to alias@offroadsteve.plus.com I would be happy to talk about ACM.

The Hallamshire hospital where I had my decomp operation have put other sufferers in touch with me, so if there is anything I can help you with then please contact me.

    All the very best,

    Steve.

  • Hi, i hope you are better. I have added your video to w w w. arnold-chiari. com, thanks for all.

  • Hi,Thanks for the message, glad the video may help someone else.

May have to do an update, as I have just come home from hospital again.

I was taken in on Monday suffering from very bad headaches, sickness etc.

Seems that my brain has 'slumped' back into the new space they have made, and this has caused a couple of blood vessels to bleed making fluid collect at the top front of my skull and now I am getting low pressure pain.Hopefully they have now sorted me out.

    Steve.

  • Sorry my bad english

  • Hi,

Not a problem, can still understand most of what you said.

But it is more of a disorder than a disease, it cannot be caught, but can be passed on genetically.

    Thanks for you message,

    Steve.

  • I am very sorry that these counting. even if he wanted despreocuparte since normally in such diseases is often require multiple interventions until it keeps everything well. There are people who no longer the first necesitna more operations, but usually are more needy.

You only have to have faith in your doctors and patience, because we know that this disease we must take it with patience. I am sure that may help you improve. Don,t worry :)
