Wow, I never thought this cannon would work so well. I built this for a science project so I could test the distance of the rocket at different speeds. What happened was at 30PSI, the rocket I was shooting blew up. I figured out the problem that the rocket was too long and too much air was filling inside before takeoff.
Now, I have rebuilt a smaller rocket to test and see what happens. Success! Even though I have yet to try the rocket at 70-100PSI, I was amazed at the distance (300+ feet) of that rocket at only 55PSI.

You should put a big elastic or spring to open the valve at a very fast speed, and have like something to pull out on the other side so the valve will just snap open.

It works a lot better if the projectile is inside the barrel. From experience, I would suggest making a thinner projectile with fins that fold flat that will actually fit inside the barrel. Makes it really accurate and opens up a world of possibilities for projectiles.
Nice work.
