The price that Germany paid for losing the war that it started was the loss of all of its eastern territories (Pomerania, Silesia, East Prussia) east of the Elbe River - lands that had been German since the 1100s and 1200s thanks to the Teutonic Knights. The fortress castle at Koenigsberg built by the Teutonic Knights in 1260 was destroyed, initially by the British RAF and "Bomber Harris" and then the Soviets dynamited what was left I believe in the 1980s.

The Nazis began a war of conquest and their aim was the conquest of Russia and the elimination of it's people. Their plan was to depopulate Russia and then settle it with Germans who would till the soil, build farms and factories, etc. Living space for the German Volk. There is no doubt that if this had been accomplished, the territory that is now Russia would have been more productive and modern - look at pics of old Koenigberg vs. Kaliningrad today. But war and genocide to do this was wrong...

...was ging dem voraus ??? schon mal was von polnischen Verbrechen gehört ???
