  • Yes, ‘The Unforgiven’ was first shown in April 1960 in USA; I don’t know the release date in UK. Some of the footage may have been shot a couple of years later and earlier. The Rose Day scenes in Part 2 may be from 1957.

  • In the beauty contest sequence the Mayor giving the prize has been identified as Coun Jim Espley.

  • I`d forgotten about the Floral Hall , been in there loads of times when i was a kid

  • We went there in 1960, round about my 9th birthday, and again in 1965, and had a lovely time on both occasions. The footage inside the floral hall brought back memories. I was enchanted by it, even at that age, but I suppose that along with the other things that made this such a lovely place it was too tame for the modern generation. I happened to go through it just recently and they have destroyed the place. It now looks like the arse-end of the world.

  • The Unforgiven (1960) showing at the Odeon! Directed by John Huston. Starring Burt Lancaster, Audrey Hepburn, Audie Murphy.

  • Such a shame Rhyl hasn't kept all the beautiful charm of a sea-side town that it once had. Great video, thanks for sharing, nice to see Rhyl in its hay day.

  • Fabulous Memories there of a Rhyl from my Childhood....lovely to see & remember how busy it used to be too! - Paul (Facebook)

  • Oh, Yes, thats definately Jim Espley. I knew the family well, Pork butchers in Sussex Street, Rhyl and branches in Colwyn Bayu, Flint etc

  • i now live in rhyl and just getting to know the town its good to see this video thanks for posting

  • I was a child growing up in Rhyl at this time what priceless memories thanks so much!
